The short version
- We don't collect any personal data. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- Your practice, settings and recordings stay on your Vision Pro.
- Hand tracking, world sensing and the microphone are processed on the device and never sent anywhere.
- Purchases and Game Center are handled by Apple.
What stays on your Vision Pro
Keyspace stores the following only on your device, inside the app's own storage:
- Your practice: songs and lessons you played, scores, accuracy, practice time, streaks, learning progress and review dates.
- Your settings: display, sound, practice and input preferences.
- Your recordings: takes you record in Free Play are saved as notes (like a MIDI file), not as audio.
- Songs you import: MIDI and MusicXML files you choose to open in Keyspace.
- Keyboard placement: where your piano is in your room, so Keyspace can line up with it next time, and how you usually adjust it. visionOS stores the position as a world anchor on your device.
The streak widget reads your streak through an App Group, which is storage on your device shared only between the Keyspace app and its widget.
We can't see any of this. Deleting Keyspace deletes it. If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, this data may be included in that backup, which Apple's or your computer's backup rules govern.
Sensors and permissions
Keyspace asks for permission before it uses any of these. You can turn each one off later in the visionOS Settings app.
- Hand tracking lines up the falling notes with your real keys and shows technique tips, such as which finger played each note. Hand positions are processed in real time on your device. Only results, such as the keyboard's position and finger accuracy in your practice results, are saved on your device.
- World sensing finds your piano and the surfaces around it and remembers where your keyboard is. It is processed on your device.
- Microphone (only if you choose the acoustic piano input) listens to your piano to tell which notes you play. The sound is analyzed in real time on your device. It isn't recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
- Bluetooth connects a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard or piano.
- Local network lets a Mac connect a keyboard to Keyspace over Wi-Fi (Network MIDI). Only MIDI notes and controls are exchanged, directly between your devices.
None of this sensor data is sent to us or to anyone else.
Apple services
Keyspace uses two Apple services. Apple handles the data for these under the Apple Privacy Policy.
- Game Center (optional). If you're signed in to Game Center, Keyspace sends your scores, practice streak and achievements to Game Center and shows your Game Center name in the app. Other players may see your scores on leaderboards, depending on your Game Center settings.
- In-app purchases. The free trial and the one-time purchase go through the App Store. Apple processes payments; we never see your payment details.
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in visionOS Settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us. These don't identify you, and you can turn sharing off in the same place.
Sharing and exporting
When you export a recording or song as MIDI, or sheet music as a PDF, Keyspace creates the file and hands it to the system share sheet. Where it goes next is up to you.
